A 39-year-old local man has been remanded in custody after appearing in connection with an alleged armed robbery attempt on a Brechin bookmaker’s.
Edward Murphy, of Brechin, appeared in private before Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown at Forfar on charges relating to an incident at the Loganbet premises in Clerk Street last Friday.
He is facing a petition alleging charges of assault with intent to rob and a misuse of drugs act offence.
Murphy made no plea or declaration.
He was committed for further examination and remanded by Sheriff Martin-Brown.
The accused is expected to appear again in court next week.
