The widow of Carnoustie man Graeme Bell has raised more than three times her target after undertaking a marathon walk to Cupar with friends and family.
Mr Bell died in November, aged 27, when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a car on the A930 at Barry while on his way to work at Cupar Motorcycles.
The weekend walk followed the route Mr Bell took to work and fundraising was undertaken to buy public-access defibrillators.
It was the latest in a set of challenges in which Jenni Bell and friends have taken part, including climbing Ben Nevis and participating in Tough Mudder.
She felt this year it would be appropriate to complete something just as challenging, but in honour of her late husband.
Mrs Bell said: “There were 21 of us, along with a friend who followed us in a bus with spare clothes and boots.
“We all made it to the end, and it was emotional, but well worth it.
“When we got to Cupar Motorcycles, there was a fantastic spread, along with a wee glass of fizz, which we were really grateful for, but they also presented us with £380, which means that we had started with the aim of purchasing one defibrillator, but this extra donation means, we can now buy three defibrillators, as well as the cases for them and the cost of having them installed.
“The units will be fitted at Carnoustie Tyres, the Station Hotel at the gable end, so that people coming off trains will be able to see it, and the third will be fitted at Cupar Motorcyles.
“I thought it would be a special gesture to use the donations raised for the walk to install a defibrillator in Graeme’s memory at his workplace, and it is something Cupar Motorcycles are honoured to receive.”
Mrs Bell paid tribute to everyone who supported the event, especially Thrifty in Dundee who provided the use of a minbus free of charge, and JM Bakery who donated food and drink for the tired walkers, and to Mr Bell’s former employers, Cupar Motorcycles who she described as being “a huge support right from the beginning.”
