A man who repeatedly raped a young woman throughout her childhood has been jailed for six years.
Despicable David Cox,64, started preying on the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, when she was aged six at addresses in Dunfermline in July 1980.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Cox continued to abuse the female until July 1996 when she was 21.
The story emerged following a trial at the High Court last month. Jurors convicted Cox, of Cleish Place, Dunfermline, of rape and sentence was deferred for the court to obtain reports.
On Friday, judge Lady Scott told Cox, who was placed on the sex offenders register, that she had no other option but to send him to prison.
She added: “I have no doubt that your victim has been badly damaged by your conduct.”
