Dundee child rapist jailed for vile video chat with paedophile hunters

Dean McKinney.
Child rapist Dean McKinney has been returned to prison.

A convicted child rapist from Dundee who demanded a threesome with what he thought was a 12-year-old girl has been jailed for a year.

Dean McKinney sent explicit photos of his unsuspecting partner to the child and invited her to have a sexual tryst with them.

The vile paedophile’s girlfriend had no idea he was using her image to groom a child.

McKinney has been locked up after a court heard he had been set up by paedophile hunter vigilantes posing as schoolgirl “Amber.”

Sheriff Gregor Murray placed McKinney on the Sex Offenders Register for a decade and said: “Your record includes two convictions for violence against women and children at a high level in the High Court.

“In this case you issued repeated sexual demands and you sent videos.

“This offence was pre-meditated to the extent that there was a clear plan.

“You alone are responsible for it and there is no alternative to a custodial sentence.”

Sent private video to decoys

McKinney, 31, of Benvie Road, Dundee, admitted sending and requesting naked photos and videos from a person he believed to be a child in August last year.

Fiscal depute Lora Apostolova told Dundee Sheriff Court: “He was communicating online with an adult decoy pretending to be a 12-year-old female.

“The accused sent a video of him having intercourse with his partner and an image showing her breasts.

“The conversation became sexualised.

“The decoy said she had never done it before and was embarrassed.

“The accused told her that his girlfriend wanted to have a threesome with another girl.

“She received a sexually explicit video in which no faces could be seen.

“He stated it was him having sex with his girlfriend.”

McKinney then told the girl to wait until her mother had gone to bed before pulling down her top and taking a photo to send to him.

Punched himself in face when confronted

Members of the vigilante group turned up at McKinney’s door and livestreamed him being confronted about his online chats with “Amber”.

He said: “I knew you were going to turn up at my door.

“I feel really bad, really f***ing stupid.”

McKinney then admitted he had been lying about his partner wanting a threesome and then punched himself in the head.

Ms Apostolova said: “Officers took a statement from his girlfriend.

“She was shown the footage and confirmed it was her.

“It was sent to him on the understanding it would not be forwarded to anyone else.”

Solicitor Kevin Hampton, defending, said: “There is not a great deal I can add.

“There are issues in his life to be addressed.”

Previous conviction

McKinney was jailed for five years in 2012 after a jury at the High Court in Aberdeen found him guilty of raping a sleeping child.

His victim said afterward: “Five years for raping a child is not enough.

“I’ve been through hell for two years.”

The teenager said she had woken to find McKinney assaulting her.
