A Dundee man has been jailed after using junk he found in a skip to threaten men outside a Dundee multi.

Paul Foy, 34, assaulted a man by brandishing a lamp and grabbing him by the body and ripping his clothes in Burnside Street on March 29 2021.

HMP Perth inmate Foy admitted acting in an aggressive manner, repeatedly making violent threats, brandishing a metal lamp and a piece of wood with nails in it.

He also claimed to have a blade.

Police who were attending an unrelated incident heard the late night rammy.

Solicitor Ross Donnelly said: “The items that were used were taken from a nearby skip.

“A house clearance was in operation.”

Foy also admitted missing a court date on November 1 last year.

Sheriff Krista Johnston sentenced Foy to 22 months in prison, plus 67 days of an unexpired prison sentence, backdated due him serving separate periods on remand.

Sextortion trial

A sextortion accused from Broughty Ferry said requests for intimate pictures were for a photography project, not blackmail. Matthew Watt is on trial at Dundee Sheriff Court and denies extortion and attempted extortion.

Cannabis blocks

A Kincardine man was caught with up to £18,000 of cannabis when his car was stopped by police in Rosyth.

Aaron Hebner was found to have 5kg of the class B drug in his Ford Fiesta on September 28 2021.

Fiscal depute Joanne Ritchie told Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court: “Within the vehicle, police observed a black rucksack containing a white bag, full of blocks of a brown substance.

“There was five plastic wraps, each containing eight blocks of brown resinous material.

“There were 40 blocks in total, weighing 5kg.

“The street value is most likely between £14,000 and £18,000.”

The 43-year-old admitted being concerned in the supply of drugs at the Shell garage in Rosyth.

Sentence on Hebner, of Toll Road, was deferred for reports.

Dealer returned to Dundee

A drug dealer who was ordered to leave Scotland a year ago was caught in a Dundee flat less than four months later with £5000 of cocaine. Oumar Jalloh was caught with Class A drugs in Hilltown in January 2022 and freed on bail but was caught again in May.

Jalloh was remanded when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Dealers caught in suspicious van

A pair of English drug dealers were caught in Dundee after police suspected they may have another man riding illegally in the back of their Transit van.

Michael McDonagh, 27, and Harry Jackson, 21, both admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine on March 4 2020.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard police in a marked vehicle saw the pair with another man at Camperdown Park and noticed McDonagh reacted suspiciously to the squad vehicle.

Police then passed them in a Transit van on Old Glamis Road, with the two accused in the front.

Suspecting the other man may be in the back, they pulled over the van.

A check showed McDonagh was known to be involved in the supply of drugs and a search was carried out.

Ten 0.1g wraps of crack cocaine were found, with a maximum value of £100.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael ordered reports into Jackson’s circumstances and released him on bail ahead of sentencing on March 27.

As McDonagh now is serving a five and a half year prison sentence, he was handed a nine-month concurrent term by the sheriff.

Answers sought over death in custody

The family of Joseph Sneddon, 37, who died in police custody in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy on April 8 2022 have demanded answers amid what they have branded a “veil of secrecy” and lack of support from the authorities.

They are accusing officials of failing to be open around the exact circumstances after he was believed to have been restrained for “at least” four hours – which his mother believes would have left him “terrified”.

The family met Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC in Edinburgh in a bid to find out more but made their case public for the first time beforehand.

Prison for abuse

Duncan Stanners, 35, was sentenced to seven years in prison for serious sexual offences in Fife and East Lothian.

He was found guilty in January of the sexual abuse of women on various dates between 2010 and 2020 and sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Detective Constable Matt Ghilotti said: “I hope this sentencing provides some measure of closure for the victims.

“Sexual abuse has no place in our society and any reports made to Police Scotland will be robustly investigated.

“If you are experiencing abuse, or know someone who is, please contact us direct or through our partner agencies.

“We will take action, no matter the timescale.”

Bestiality on devices

A Montrose paedophile downloaded more than 4,000 indecent files, including sick footage featuring animals. Andrew Lapidus appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
