The singer of Scottish happy hardcore band QFX is to judge a battle of the choirs contest in Dundee.
Heather Finnie, who had five top 40 singles with the Hawick band, will be a star guest and judge at the “Battle of the Choirs” event in Dundee University Chaplaincy Centre on Saturday November 26.
The group, part of the happy hardcore and bouncy techno scene, released their first album in 1994 and are still touring today.
Ms Finnie is also a vocal coach.
The Battle of the Choirs event has been organised as part of the 16 Days of Activism and Gender-based Violence Campaign, which is demanding action to stop violence against women and girls around the world.
Dundee Women’s Aid has organised Saturday’s event which will feature choirs from a number of organisations including LGBT Youth, Deaf Links, Dundee University, the Protecting People Team and Dundee Women’s Aid itself.
Each group will be hoping Ms Finnie goes bonkers for their performance and crowns them the best overall on the day.
The event, which is raising funds for services working to combat violence against women in Dundee, will also feature a host of other entertainment including belly dancing and African drumming.
Sophie Gwyther from DWA said: “The idea behind this event was to raise awareness of the issue of violence against women but also to have some fun.
“Staff that work at the front line of support services in this area face many challenges and the work can be extremely hard at times.
“Having something like a workplace choir can do wonders for emotional well-being and morale of staff.
“I am massively grateful to everyone who has helped organise this event and hopefully it will become a regular fixture.”
Doors open at 6pm on Saturday and the competition will begin at 6.30pm. Tickets are available on the door.
