A local businessman has donated 40 tickets to a city panto to families from Lochee.
Dundee businessman Tony Cochrane has teamed up with the Phoenix Group to make the festive season extra special for a number of local parents and their children.
The donation of the tickets for the Gardyne Theatre’s Christmas production of Cinderella is part of his continuing commitment to local causes.
Mr Cochrane – who runs a number of clubs across Scotland, including Aura, Vogue and Club Tropicana in the city’s Fat Sam’s complex – said he wanted to do something for the people of Lochee, which is where he was brought up.
He said: “As a kid I was brought up in Lochee. We came up with some ideas to be helpful and one idea was a night out with some kids, some families, so we did a deal with the panto producers.
“We are going to do more. I just thought it was a good idea. We are just going to keep at this and do it on a regular basis. It’s probably much better that we give money to local causes like this.”
A Phoenix Group spokeswoman said: “The Phoenix group along with the families will be accepting the tickets for the families in Lochee, who have been part of the regeneration of their community by way of growing their own fruit and veg in the community garden – coming together to make decisions and improve their well-being and hence the community they live in.”
Cinderella will run at the Gardyne Theatre from Saturday, December 8.
