Binman jailed for sexually assaulting drunk friends

A binman who filmed himself carrying out horrific sex assaults on two men he plied with drink has been jailed for more than four years.

John Worsley is facing a lengthy jail term over the brutal attacks, carried out at his flat on two men who had separately come to him for help.

One man didn’t even know he had been a victim until the second man, attacked a week later, woke up during the assault.

He called police who seized refuse collector Worsley’s phone.

They then discovered graphic footage of the attacks on both men.

Worsley tried to claim to police that the incidents were “consensual” and added that because he was drunk too he “couldn’t be held responsible for his actions”.

On Wednesday, Worsley was placed on the sex offenders register for life and told: “You took advantage of two people who you knew were asleep.”

Horrified relatives of Worsley stormed out of court as fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson read a graphic narrative of the two separate sex attacks.

Worsley, 44, of Pitkerro Road, Dundee, pleaded guilty on indictment to two charges of sexual assault committed on August 1 and August 8 last year at an flat in Dundee’s Baffin Street.

Solicitor advocate Kris Gilmartin, defending, said: “He is remorseful for his actions.

“He acknowledges he committed these offences and makes no attempt to minimise his actions.

“He was acquainted with both complainers and has some insight in to the effect this will have had on them.”

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael jailed Worsley for a total of four years and four months and placed him on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

He said: “It is quite clear that you took advantage of two people who you knew were asleep and incapable of giving consent.

“You performed sexual acts on them and video recorded it.

“There is no other appropriate way of dealing with this case available other than custody.”

Members of Worsley’s family shouted “I love you” and “John we are all there for you mate” as he was handcuffed and led to the cells.
