A Perth landscaper has been left up to £2,500 out of pocket after tools were stolen from his van overnight.
Bradley Donaldson – who runs Cutting Edge – woke up on Friday morning to find that his tool bag had been taken from one of his work vehicles.
The Makita bag contained a radio, a drill, a grinder, an impact gun, an SDS drill and a rip saw, along with batteries, nails and a nail gun.
The business owner says the stolen tools – which were taken while his van was parked in a driveway on King Street – are worth between £2,000 and £2,500.
‘Brazen’ thieves stole tools while van was parked in drive
He has now appealed for help in tracking down the tools and finding those responsible.
Bradley said: “I realised it had been broken into on Friday at about 10am.
“As I walked up I realised that the contents of the van were on the front seat.
“They’d emptied all the pockets looking for something.
“I opened the back door and all my Makita tools were gone, so was my nail gun and nail bag.
“I park there every other night – it’s in a driveway.
“They’ve been quite brazen and come up the drive.”
Blow ahead of Christmas
The theft has made the Christmas period – which is usually slow for the landscaper – even tougher.
He added: “I’ve got workers who are now out of work for a couple of days because they’ve got no tools.
“It’s an inconvenience and it had to happen around Christmas.
Police investigating theft
“Things always slow down at this time of year for whatever reason and now I have to buy new tools when I’m away to spend a load of money on Christmas shopping.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 11am on Friday to a report of a theft from a Ford Transit van on King Street, Perth, that happened overnight.
“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1051 of Friday December 2.”
