One of the most famous tourist attractions in the Scots capital is allowing redheads in for free to mark the country’s first official joint visit from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Edinburgh Dungeon said gingers – as well as anyone named Harry or Meghan, and all princes and princesses “to be” – will be given free entry as the city prepares to welcome the royal couple at noon.

Large crowds have already began to gather outside Edinburgh Castle ahead of the visit, which will involve a tour of the historic site and visits to Social Bite and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

However Edinburgh Dungeon’s offer does not extend to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle themselves, who they insist will have to pay for entry.

Staff tweeted: “In honour of the Royal Visit, we give you FREEBIES! All Harrys, Meghans, Princes, Princesses-to-be, and our favourites – GINGERS – get in free today. (Unless you’re actually Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in which case you pay).”

Edinburgh Dungeon, on Market Street, allows visitors to explore Scotland’s dark past using live actors, dressed as torturers, judges, cannibals and murderers.
