A mouse’s televised intrusion into Holyrood has prompted calls for a rodent crackdown in the parliament.
The animal appeared in the background of a live video broadcast on Wednesday when Labour MSP Johann Lamont was speaking at the education committee.
Five years ago, calls for an in-house cat to tackle the problem were rejected by Holyrood chiefs, with allergies and the feline’s safety among the concerns.

Liam McArthur, for the Scottish Liberal Democrats, said: “It’s time for Holyrood bosses to clamp down on rogue rodents. Mickey and co need to find a new home.”
Pest control experts were called out to the parliament 174 times, according to figures covering 2012 to 2016.
A Scottish Parliament spokesman said: “Like most city centre premises we have pest control measures in place to keep mice at bay.
“We have traps positioned around the building, but mainly in the basement plant rooms where it is warm and more likely to attract mice.
“In practice though there are occasional sightings around the building.”
