Brechin boss Darren Dods has revealed he is close to bringing Isaac Layne back to the club.

The 22-year-old attacker previously had a spell on loan at the Glebe when he was with Alloa.

He subsequently moved back down south to join Billericay Town before joining Grays Athletic.

Now, Dods has moved to bring Layne back to Scotland as he puts together the finishing touches to his roster for the exciting season ahead in the Championship.

The Glebe gaffer said: “The squad is shaping up well.

“Most of the lads have re-signed and we are still hopeful that James Dale will come back for another season.

“We obviously signed Ryan McGeever this week and we are close to finalising a deal for Isaac Layne.

“He did really well for us when he was on loan here before.

“Isaac gives us a goal threat and real pace up front. He linked up well with Andy Jackson before and hopefully they can do the same in the Championship.

“So if we can get James Dale fixed up, we will have 16 signed which isn’t too bad at this stage of the summer.

“We are still looking for another experienced midfielder and centre-half.

“We are speaking to a few but some lads are holding out for the chance of a full-time club.”
