Dundee United boss Csaba Laszlo will show basement boys Brechin plenty of respect

Dundee United boss Csaba Laszlo believes Brechin deserve respect despite being rock bottom of the Championship.

As part of his new job, Laszlo has embarked upon an extensive revision mission, looking at hours of footage of every opponent the Tangeines will face in the Championship.

What he has learned about City is that they may have only a couple of points and still be in search of their first league win but they tend not to lose by many goals.

He has also studied United’s August 19 meeting with the Angus side at Tannadice, when the home side sneaked home thanks to Scott McDonald’s only goal of the game with just 10 minutes to go.

So Laszlo will have his players well briefed for their trip up the A90 tomorrow.

He said: “I have seen Brechin and know, more or less, everything about that team and also about their circumstances.

“I have huge respect for them and this will be a very tricky match.

“The position they are in does not show their strength.

“Likewise, I thought Falkirk was a better side than second bottom. It is similar with Brechin.

“They may have only two points but they tend not to lose games by 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0.

“Every single game is usually very tight.

“So those boys will be tough, especially at home.

“The first game against us here was only 1-0.

“OK, it was a not a fantastic game of football but it showed we must be well prepared.”

United fans have had smiles on their faces all week after what was a terrific performance in beating Falkirk 3-0 on Sunday.

However, Laszlo, who has made it his own personal goal to bring the players and supporters closer together, has warned that both they and the team might have to be patient tomorrow.

He said: “We will all have to show patience if we don’t score a quick goal because if you like to take the three points you have to work and concentrate for 90 minutes.

“An away game is always difficult so I won’t let my players think too much about last Sunday or celebrate – that’s finished.

“We have to concentrate just about this next match – nothing else.”
