We are all agreed Dundee need a goalscorer and Kenny Miller is certainly one of them.
Indeed, you are guaranteed goals from him. He has done it everywhere he has been.
Whether it be Rangers, Celtic, Hibs, Wolves or Scotland he has found the target at crucial times in big games.
I played with him for the national team and Kenny is a great professional.
Don’t worry about his fitness – it will not be a problem, even at the age of 38.
I can see why manager Neil McCann has chosen to take him on but the big thing for me is seeing who plays alongside him up front.
Kenny will be first choice, in my opinion, and then you can pick from Jean Mendy, Sofien Moussa or Benjamin Kallman.
It won’t be Craig Wighton, of course.
He is on his way to Hearts and good luck to him.
When he looks back on his time at Dens, there is no doubt that the goal Craig scored against Dundee United in that derby will be the highlight.
I do suspect, however, that there will be regrets too.
The biggest one, I imagine, will be that he never quite got a long enough run in his preferred position in the first team.
He was pushed out left latterly and I just think it is was waste of a striker to use him outside.
It would have been better for Craig had he had a decent spell as central striker or even playing just behind.
~ I would humbly suggest that there are better players than yours truly who have won trophies and represented Scotland at Hampden.
For example, I noticed the great Danny McGrain speaking about how the national stadium was special to him.
However, I am fortunate enough to have a few magical memories from the place so it is not a surprise to discover that I support keeping Hampden as the home of Scottish football.
I do believe, though, that it needs some serious work to improve it and I would like to see some redevelopment done as a priority.
You look down south at Wembley and realise that we fall well short but that isn’t a good enough reason to call for the removal vans.
