Get ready for three action-packed days of exciting equestrian action in the shadow of Scotland’s most stunning castle.

The inaugural Glamis Country Fair and Horse Trials starts on Friday and promises fantastic fun for horsey – and non-horsey – folk.

With more than 70 trade stands selling everything from tartan gifts to country clothing, holiday homes to pet beds, there will be plenty to keep the most hardened shopper busy for hours.

You can check out what local producers have on offer at the craft tent and food and drink tent; you’re sure to find some truly amazing individual and artisan products.

For the dog lover – don’t leave your treasured pet at home – bring him or her along to join in the fun.

There’s a dog show, dog agility demonstrations and have-a-go dog agility sessions. And as if that’s not enough, there will also be a pet first aid demonstration.

All of the dog events are helping to support the event’s charity, Cash For Kids, and the team from Tay FM are coming along with their brightly coloured marquee and providing kids colouring and other activities.

The inaugural Glamis Country Fair and Horse Trials promise to be great fun for all the family.

For the more adventurous, the Dundee and Angus Battalion of the Army Cadet Force will be bringing their climbing wall and inflatable assault course for you to test your strength and skill.

If you fancy a more relaxing time, come and meet the birds of prey from the Glens Falconry or try your hand at fly-tying. For gin lovers, the Redcastle Gin Bar will be open at the water jump, so why not grab a chair and watch the world – and the horses – go by!

The cross country course at Glamis Country Fair and Horse Trials is going to be hugely exciting.

The equestrian competition kicks off next Friday with show jumping and cross country, all in a compact area, with competitors of all ages and ability taking part.

On both the Saturday and Sunday, there will be the Autosales of Kirriemuir British Eventing Horse Trials, with all three phases of competition over both days.

The horses first compete in the dressage arenas, showing their control and flexibility.

They then take on the show jumping course in the main arena before heading out onto the cross country course for everyone’s favourite challenge.

The cross country courses have been designed by Adrian Ditcham, who was also the designer for the London 2012 Olympics cross country track, so they will be a great test for the horses.

The event really does have something for everyone to enjoy and with discounted tickets selling online right up to the event, what’s not to love?

Birds of prey will be among the attractions.
Bring your dog along and take part in the agility classes!
