A familiar face around Dundee helped kick off Broughty Ferry Gala Week on Sunday.
Oor Wullie was guest of honour at the Gala Day held to celebrate the launch of the 84th Broughy Ferry Gala Week.
Oor Wullie is currently Dundee’s star attraction, thanks to the Bucket Trail which has seen 55 statues of the popular character put up around Dundee in order to raise funds for The Archie campaign.
The Gala, on Castle Green, also featured the Radio Tay Roadshow and a host of other events for families.
Gerry Stewart, chair of The Broughty Ferry Community Gala Committee, said: “Broughty Ferry is such a magical small town and, as part of the Traders Association, we love creating events that bring our community together.
“In the last year we’ve added the Ferry Fashion Show and the Ferry Food Fayre to the town’s already busy calendar.
“The Christmas Lights Night in 2015 was our busiest ever and the Gala Committee aims to make this year’s Gala Week the highlight of the summer.
“We’re looking forward to a wonderful Summer in 2016, and to welcoming lots of Ferry folk and visitors to our gala week.”

A packed programme of events has been planned for this year’s Gala Week.
The annual Children’s Window Guessing Competition will run over two weeks giving children and their parents more time to find the items hidden in the windows of 85 shops and businesses.
First run in 1932, children have to spot an item in the window of each shop which would not be sold in the premises.
A number of other popular events will return, including the sand sculpture competition, pavement drawing competition and bonnie baby competition.
There will also be quiz nights while Broughty Ferry YMCA is running a treasure hunt to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
In addition, there will also be quiz nights, a car boot sale and even a family pet show.
