Thousands of people are expected to turn out on the streets of Broughty Ferry for its annual Christmas lights event later this month.
The details of the popular celebration have been revealed to The Courier, with less than three weeks now remaining until the big night.
An evening of food, entertainment and music has been promised by the Broughty Ferry Traders Association (BFTA), with special guests including Santa himself.
The Barnhill Primary School Choir and Tayside Young Fiddlers will perform as part of the celebration held on Brook Street.
This year’s headline act, back by popular demand, is Scotland’s leading Frozen tribute group.
BFTA chair Steve James said: “The Christmas lights switch on is great fun way to bring all of our community together to enjoy a good, old fashioned street party.
“This year the Fort Hotel has added an amazing lights display and the top secret Gillies Christmas window will be their most spectacular yet!
“There’s always such a great atmosphere and the lights give Broughty Ferry a lovely festive twinkle, literally lighting up the town with the spirit of a Merry Ferry Christmas.”
The Gillies-sponsored event has become a firm favourite with locals and visitors who come together to mark the start of the festive season with fairground rides and street entertainment.
Brook Street will be closed to traffic from 2pm until 9pm on the day, although shops will be open as usual.
The funfair and Radio Tay stage will be running from 6pm, while local traders including Scotts Butchers and Visocchis will be on hand to offer food and drink throughout the event with some shops staying open throughout the evening.
The event, held on 24 November 2016, gets under way with live entertainment from 6pm. Dundee Lord Provost Bob Duncan will then switch on the lights at 7.30pm.
The BFTA is also holding a second festive event on December 11 between 12pm and 4pm.
Festive Sunday will feature Santa’s Grotto with the merry Ferry Minions and a guest appearance from Oor Wullie.
A Christmas land train will tour around the Ferry, promoting the shops and cafes open on Sundays throughout December.
The BFTA, which organises the event, is responsible for other major community events including Gala Week and the Ferry Food Fayre.
It works in partnership with other local agencies to promote Broughty Ferry and acts as an advocate in the best interests of the town where appropriate and makes significant donations to local charities.
