An unknown child’s heart-rending letter to their father in Heaven has prompted offers to make some of his or her Christmas wishes come true.
The rolled-up letter attached to a balloon was found in a field in Dunfermline and sparked a mission to trace its author.
The football-daft youngster tells their dad how much they love him before setting out the gifts they would like in their stocking.
Their dream, however, is a note from their father to be left under their pillow.
Since Stuart McColl, who made the discovery behind Balmule House, north of Townhill, appealed for help to trace the child people have offered to buy the presents.
A photograph of the letter illustrated with hearts and penned on December 1 has gone viral on Facebook.
The letter reads: “Hi dad, just writing you a letter to tell you I’m missing you and tell you news!
“I’m sure you know I’m in foster care cause mom is sick and my ear is blocked from Monday.
“Tomorrow we’re leaving.
“I really miss school and you. I know are up in Heaven but are you safe?
“Oh ya before I go here’s my dream and Xmas list.
“My dream is for you my daddy to put a note under my pillow that you wrote.
“My Xmas list: boots/studs, Astros, rebounder net, new Premier League ball, Real Madrid kit.
“Bye daddy I love you.”
