The body of a woman has been discovered in woodland in Glenrothes.
Police Scotland say they are currently treating the death of the 52-year-old woman as “unexplained” and have launched an investigation.
The woman’s identity has not yet been revealed, but it is understood next of kin have been informed.
Officers were called to the scene just off Aboyne Way, near Collydean Primary School, at around 10.30am on Sunday morning and cordoned off the area.
Forensic teams have been seen scouring the wooded area throughout the afternoon, while local detectives have been conducting door-to-door enquiries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Police in Fife were called to an area of woodland accessed from Aboyne Way in Glenrothes around 10.30am on Sunday January 8 after the body of a 52-year-old woman was found.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further inquiries.”
