A last ditch bid to block the controversial Cupar North development before its inclusion in Fife’s Local Development Plan has failed.
Officials claimed the move would leave Fife Council open to legal challenge.
The region’s executive committee voted to approve modifications to FIFEplan as recommended by Scottish Government Reporters, and proceed to publish, adopt and constitute the plan.
Plans for more than 1,400 homes to the north of Cupar remain contentious but councillors voted 14-4 in favour of adopting FIFEplan as tabled, along with the Reporters’ recommendation in relation to Cupar North that an associated relief road should be constructed by the 600th house.
