American chain Smashburger is opening the doors of what will be its second Scottish eaterie at Fife Leisure Park in Dunfermline. The company, one of the fastest growing restaurant concepts in the US, started out in 2007 when it opened its first restaurant in Denver Colorado. It had one idea – that despite the overwhelming number of burger outlets, diners were looking for something better. Now a decade on, it can be found in nine countries with more than 370 restaurants worldwide. The first UK outlet opened last year in Milton Keynes. It has since opened five others, in Brighton, Newcastle, Bath, Wednesbury and Glasgow. Its seventh will be in Dunfermline. The firm takes a local approach to the food on offer, with the addition of local craft beers and single origin British beef. Fife Leisure Parks selection of food outlets will expandScotland’s outlets have their own local burger, a Tagais Stack, made with haggis. Its claim is that handcrafted burgers are smashed, seared and seasoned to order, using fresh 100% British beef.
