A woman was airlifted to hospital on Wednesday after getting into difficulties on the Fife coastal path.
Two lifeboats and a helicopter responded to an alert that the woman, believed to be in her 70s, was suffering chest pains.
It is believed she had been walking alone and called the emergency services herself.
A spokesman for Anstruther lifeboat said the inshore and all weather lifeboats had been launched to help the distressed walker, who was between Crail and Anstruther.
“The lady was airlifted to hospital for tests,” he said.
“Her condition had improved by the time she left the scene.”
