Passengers on Dundee Airport’s flagship route to Amsterdam are being bussed to and from Edinburgh on Sundays for their flights.
A spokesman for operator FlyBe said the issue was an operational matter and would be resolved when it introduces its winter flight schedule next month.
However, until then it means passengers who want to fly from Dundee are being collected on buses at the airport and being driven through to Edinburgh Airport for a flight.
Passengers booked from Amsterdam to Dundee are bussed in the other direction.
People who have booked onto flights from Dundee on Sunday this week were notified about the changes to their plans earlier this week.
One man, whose son-in-law was booked on the flight this weekend, said: “They are shipping people from Dundee through to Edinburgh via bus at the weekends just now to catch flights in Edinburgh.
“My son-in-law was hacked right off they when they were told about the changes.”
Flights between Dundee and Amsterdam were introduced in March, running five days a week.
They were a huge success and FlyBe introduced additional flights on Sundays at the beginning of September and will being flying seven days a week in November.
However, they were forced to take passengers through to Edinburgh on October 9 and will have to do so again this weekend.
The company’s website is no longer accepting Sunday bookings to Dundee from Amsterdam on Sundays for the rest of the month.
However, once November starts Sunday flights become available once more while Saturday flights are introduced for the first time.
A spokesman for Highlands and Islands Airports, which operates Dundee Airport, said: “As part of an ongoing review of operations, Flybe will re-time its weekend services between Dundee and Amsterdam with effect from Saturday Novermber 5 as part of its new 2016-17 Winter schedule.
“From now through October 30, Sunday flights to and from Amsterdam will be re-routed from Edinburgh.
“Flybe apologises for any inconvenience experienced by passengers as a result of this temporary measure and is in communication with those affected.
“Dundee Airport is working closely with the airline to accommodate these changes and is supporting Flybe’s measures to minimise this short-term disruption to customers’ travel plans.”
Plans to extend Dundee Airport and attract new routes to and from the city form a major part of the Tay Cities plan.
It is hoped that bringing more international flights to Dundee would help boost the economy of the city and wider Tayside area by bringing more tourists.
As well as the impending opening of the V&A, it is believed Dundee’s proximity to some of Scotland’s most historic golf courses could make the airport a popular destination.
