A bogus workman tried to steal from a 97-year-old partially blind woman in Broughty Ferry on Friday.
The incident occurred in Beaumont Crescent around 2pm when the woman answered her door to a man offering to clean her roof slates.
The bogus worker managed to talk his way into the woman’s house and said he would help her look for money to pay for the work.
He then began rifling through the woman’s cupboards and drawers in an attempt to find cash.
Fortunately, he did not find any money and left empty-handed.
Because the woman is only partially-sighted she was unable to provide a detailed description of the man to investigating officers.
However, police believe the man may have tried his luck at other homes in the area on Friday afternoon and hope other witnesses may be able to help catch the culprit.

Last week three bogus workmen was chased from the property of an 81-year-old woman in Old Glamis Road after her neighbour became suspicious and intervened.
The two incidents are not thought to be connected.
