A woman who attacked her rival’s mobility scooter and made death threats has been ordered to stay out of trouble for six months.
Elaine McDonald, 64, dragged the woman’s scooter off down the street and tried to rip off the attached wicker shopping basket.
McDonald, who was drunk, also kicked the woman’s door and banged her window while shouting that she would kill everyone inside.
Sheriff Pino di Emidio told McDonald: “There is really no excuse for this type of behaviour, even if you think this person has done you a bad turn.
“Police officers should not be required to put up with this sort of thing.”
He deferred sentence and ordered her to be of good behaviour for six months.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that McDonald, from Rattray, believed her rival had been exploiting her financially and wanted revenge.
Fiscal depute Shaun Maher said: “The accused began kicking and banging at the front door and window and was heard to shout ‘two-faced b******’.
“She was uttering threats to kill everyone in the address.
“They observed the accused pulling at her mobility scooter, pulling it along the pavement and making efforts to snap the wicker basket on the handlebars.
“They shouted at her to leave the scooter alone and this was met with a barrage of abuse and threats.”
Police were called and shortly after they arrived, McDonald returned to the scene and continued hurling abuse as she banged the living room window.
“Officers formed the view she was heavily under the influence.
“She was placed into the caged area of the police van.
“She preceded to kick the door, shout, swear and threaten officers.”
Solicitor Steve Lafferty, defending, told the court that his client had an alcohol problem and had been upset by the death of her pet dog.
McDonald admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner in Hatton Place, Rattray, and in a police van on June 22.
