The highest building in Kinross – the parish church – has had the clock on the tower restored to full working order.
The four illuminated faces of the clock can been seen from all over the town and the restoration cost £8,000.
The project was financed with more than £5,000 from the Arthur and Margaret Thomson Charitable Trust with the remainder raised by the congregation.
Perth and Kinross Council maintain the day-to-day working of the clock but was not involved in the refurbishment. The clock was repaired by the specialist firm Smith of Derby Ltd.
The clock was installed in memory of local doctor David Oswald who died in 1929.
The masonry of the tower itself, with its elaborate top based on details from Cambridge’s Kings College Chapel, was restored last year at a cost of around £25,000.
Kinross Parish Church, which is a B listed building, dates from 1832 and was modernised internally in 2005.
