Police Scotland has confirmed it investigated concerns about a man speaking to children in the Gannochy area of Perth.
A post shared on Facebook said the adult had been talking to girls near to the duck pond, raising suspicions.
It was claimed the man hurried away when other adults tried to approach to ask what he was doing.
The post was re-shared hundreds of times by concerned parents.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed they had been alerted by a member of the public.
“Police Scotland attended in the Gannochy area at around 4.15pm on Tuesday November 22 after reports of a suspicious incident whereby a man was talking to children,” said a spokesman.
“Officers made inquiries and this was a false alarm with good intent and all was in order.”
