Forfar have the chance to kick on when they travel to Cowdenbeath

Forfar have the chance to end a week that began in disappointing fashion with a second consecutive win and at least a five-point lead at the top of League Two.

Gary Bollan’s side lost their Angus derby 1-0 to Arbroath last Saturday.

However, they bounced back in great style with a 5-1 midweek success over Annan.

The Station Park boss said: “We showed what we are capable of on Tuesday.

“Last Saturday was disappointing but we bounced back in style, with goals coming from defenders, midfielders and strikers, which was very pleasing.”

“At 4-0 we switched off a bit and allowed Annan back into things but I cannot complain too much as it was a very good result overall.”

Bollan, however, is not looking for any lapses against Cowdenbeath at Central Park today.

He explained: “Our last game with them was won 4-3 but I reckon this one will be a lot tighter.

“Cowdenbeath have improved and they will be out to make things very difficult for us.

“Liam Fox was my captain at Livingston and I know that he has the capability to fire people up and he will be doing that with his players before kick-off.

“However, as I have always stressed, it is what the Forfar players do that will determine the outcome in this game.”

It is not just the outcome of this game that the Loons can determine, with Bollan keen to stress that they control the destiny of their season as well.

He added: “If we keep on winning games then we are putting ourselves very strongly into pole position.

“Nobody can take that from us if we win games but we know that doing that is not always easy.”

Jim Lister will be missing after illness, with Bollan expecting everyone else to be available despite a couple of players skipping training on Thursday due to knocks picked up in midweek.
