East Fife boss Barry Smith wary of game against bottom side

East Fife may have won their last three games in a row but Bayview boss Barry Smith is certainly taking nothing for granted when they travel to face bottom of the table Stenhousemuir tonight.

The new Methil manager got off to the perfect start on Saturday courtesy of a fine 2-0 win over Peterhead, with the result lifting his side up to seventh.

Now Smith is looking for more of the same this evening but he is wary of a Stenny side who have done well recently.

He said: “It is always good to get a home win.

“The boys did extremely well as Peterhead put us under a lot of pressure.

“But we stood up to it and scored two good goals.

“We still had Kevin Smith and Chris Duggan out injured while Scott Robinson was suspended so that was us without three senior players.

“However, the guys that played on Saturday are the ones getting the results.

“It is important that we don’t try to change things too much.

“You take confidence from victories but you have to remember how you got them.”

Smith added: “The two games I have seen, against Brechin and Peterhead, hard work has had a lot to do with it.

“The lads put in a really good shift and as I said to them, it is not about individuals, it is about the team.

“If you have that work-rate, it is half the battle.

“Stenhousemuir are sitting bottom of the league but they have had two victories out of three recently.

“I had them watched on Saturday and we know where they will try to cause us problems.

“But we will continue to try to be effective in what we do.”
