Arbroath boss Dick Campbell is determined to end what has already been a “phenomenal” first quarter of the campaign on a high with another win against Raith Rovers this afternoon.
The Red Lichties sit top of League 1 with 20 points to their name, four ahead of the Kirkcaldy side.
Both teams won last weekend with Arbroath coming from behind at a windswept Gayfield to beat Airdrie 3-1 while Raith, with John McGlynn in charge for his first game in his second spell as boss of the club, battered Dumbarton 5-1.
Now, though, Campbell is determined that Rovers’ new manager “bounce” will end today at Stark’s Park.
He said: “After last weekend there will not be any changes – I don’t see why I would change it.
“John was also understandably ecstatic about their performance last Saturday.
“He now thinks if they beat us, they will only be a point behind us going into the second quarter and he will be happy.
“But we are definitely going down there to try to win the game.
“We know how they will play and I have full confidence in my team.
“We have scored more goals and conceded fewer than anyone else in the league so I am not surprised we have had a great first quarter.
“To take 20 points has been phenomenal and we can possibly take 23.
“So it is a big, big game.”
Campbell has on-loan Dunfermline striker Callum Smith available again after recovering from injury but the manager revealed he has allowed another player to move out on loan.
Despite that, he believes there are few teams in the league with as strong a bench as the one he can call on.
Campbell added: “Kane Hester is away to East Kilbride on loan until January.
“However, Callum Smith is back available for selection and Steven Doris is 100% fit.
“So we are even stronger on the bench for the Raith game.
“What other team in the league has the likes of Darren Hill, Omar Kader, Ryan McCord, Finn Graham, David Gold, Smith and Doris on the bench?”
