Raith boss John McGlynn has expressed his delight after Nathan Flanagan signed a contract extension with the club.

The 21-year-old former Hearts and St Mirren winger joined Rovers in the summer but his deal was set to run out next month.

However, after impressing in his performances so far for the League 1 club, he has been handed a contract that will keep him at Stark’s Park until May, 2020.

His signing is another boost for McGlynn after top scorer Kevin Nisbet put pen to paper on a longer deal last week.

The manager said: “I am delighted that Nathan Flanagan had decided to extend his contract with the club.

“Nathan has done exceptionally well during my time at the club and his contract extension is a reward for all his hard work.

“He’s an exciting player, who has fans on the edge of their seats whenever he gets on the ball.

“He has been listening and learning, which is very pleasing for myself and (assistant boss) Paul Smith.

“We look forward to working with Nathan as he and the club continue our push for promotion.”

Flanagan, who has scored three goals in 17 appearances so far for the Kirkcaldy club, added: “I’m delighted to have extended my contract with Raith Rovers; it’s good to have my future settled.

“I’m enjoying my football here and hoping I can keep improving and performing for the team. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.”
