St Johnstone playmaker Stefan Scougall’s season may be over, with manager Tommy Wright confirming that a scan has revealed multiple injuries to both his ankle and knee.
The news has put the tin lid on a dreadful few days for the Perth club that saw them lose at Motherwell in the league and be dumped out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts.
“It looks like he’ll be out for a lengthy period of time,” said Wright.
“When the physio read out his injuries I thought he was talking about three different players.
“He’s got about five or six things wrong – two or three things wrong with his knee and a couple of things wrong with his ankle.
“I doubt very much if we’ll see much of him this season. He’s going to see an ankle specialist on Monday and might need an op.”
Scougall picked up his injuries against Motherwell and missed the 3-0 weekend defeat at Tynecastle.
