A Dundee band could be playing alongside the likes of Noel Gallagher and Catfish and the Bottlemen at a festival in July.
Sahara, set up by four friends from Dundee, is on the shortlist to perform at the Y Not festival.
They are one of 50 bands still in the running for the prize, including two other Scottish bands, and have made an appeal for votes to get them to the Peak District festival.
Ally Scott, 18, the band’s drummer said they’d be delighted to perform at the festival.
He said: “It would be mental to play at Y Not Festival as it would be our first gig outside Scotland. Not only that but so many of our favourite bands are on the lineup and to even be shortlisted to play with them is nothing we imagined would happen.
“Being a young person from Dundee, it’s rare that the opportunity to be on the bill with Noel Gallagher and Catfish and the Bottlemen comes about.”
Sahara has previously supported Mercury Music Prize-nominated band The View.
Ally added: “Supporting The View was a great gig because again they’re one of our collective favourite bands.
“We also supported Vladimir last November at Beat Generator and loads of people came and just went mental as if we were headlining T in the Park or something which was brilliant.”
Lead guitarist Megan McNally, 17, said she loved performing with the band.
“It’s just good because there’s always something to work towards – whether that’s making and releasing new music or just bettering ourselves to play more high profile gigs.
“The social aspect of playing gigs is great as well because it allows all our mates to be in the same place and you get to meet loads of new people which often leads on to more opportunities. It’s good being able to travel about and play to new audiences too.”
The other members are Adam Campbell, 18, on vocals and guitar, and bass guitarist Keir Henderson, also 18.
The band was formed last year when the members were still at Harris Academy. Two of the group have since left the school, but they have plans to keep the band going into the future.
A debut EP will be released both physically and digitally in the summer.
