Table Talk: The food and drink team’s store cupboard heroes that are getting them through lockdown

In their weekly vodcast the food and drink team talk about what ingredients and products they have loved discovering more in their kitchens at home…

Lockdown has all the key ingredients of forcing us to cook more at home.

It has seen the majority of hospitality come to a standstill, seen us shop more locally while purchasing a much wider variety of produce, and has forced us indoors where there isn’t much going on apart from waiting for the next big Netflix of Amazon Prime series to drop.

And while some of us may not have taken full advantage of being at home and having more time to spend in the kitchen, the Food and Drink team most certainly have.

From chilli to fajitas, not to mention pies, risotto and more, we’ve been cooking up a storm keeping our families fed and our minds zen.

Recently Food Standards Scotland revealed purchases of savoury and sweet ingredients rose by 90% and 121% respectively in the week before the first lockdown, which got us thinking about the ingredients we’ve loved cooking with over the past 11 months.

We hope you enjoy discovering and even rediscovering some of our favourite ingredients and products that we have hailed our lockdown heroes…
