Meet the first baby born in Fife under King Charles’ reign

Baby Ellie was the first in Fife to be born under King Charles III.
Baby Ellie was the first in Fife to be born under King Charles III.

Ellie Beveridge has become the first baby born in Fife after King Charles III succeeded the throne.

She arrived less than 24 hours after the new monarch ascended to the throne.

Little Ellie was born on Saturday September 10 at 2.03pm, making her the first baby in the Kingdom born into the Carolean era – the term used to describe the reign of King Charles III.

Mum, Natascha Bossard, 45, welcomed her little bundle of joy at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, with partner Graeme Beveridge, 46, by her side.

The proud parents, from Dunfermline, are delighted with their new arrival, who weighed 6lbs 14oz at birth.

Ellie Beveridge was born on September 10 at 2.03pm.

And the couple were shocked to learn of their daughter’s special place in history.

Natascha says: “We’re absolutely ecstatic and we can’t stop looking at her. She’s quite a relaxed baby and she’s sleeping really well so far.

“It’s quite exciting to know Ellie is the first baby born in Fife under King Charles III. We were quite surprised.

“It makes her a little bit of history.”

‘The staff have looked after us’

And Natascha can’t speak highly enough of the care they received from NHS Fife, which was delivered in the wake of the news of Queen Elizabeth’s sad death.

She continues: “Our time at Victoria Hospital has been really good. The staff have been brilliant and can’t do enough to help us.

“They’ve looked after us every step of the way.

“We originally came into hospital on Thursday, so we’re just looking forward to taking Ellie home now!”

Ellie, with parents Natascha and Graeme.

Head of Midwifery at NHS Fife, Pamela Galloway, said: “We were delighted and privileged to be able to share such a special experience with Natascha and Graeme.

“We offer them our congratulations and wish the family all the best for the future.”

The second baby born in Fife after King Charles ascended to the throne arrived the next day, on September 11.

What is the difference between the Carolean and Elizabethan era?

The Carolean era began when King Charles ascended to the throne following his mother, Queen Elizabeth’s death on Thursday September 8.

It will be the second Carolean era in history. The began during the reign of King Charles II from 1660 to 1685.

Prior to this, we were living in the Elizabethan era, under Queen Elizabeth.

This was also the second Elizabethan era, following the first between 1558 and 1603, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
