Police have launched a missing person appeal for a man last seen in Dundee on July 14.

Police searches are continuing today for Graeme Leslie, 62, who has been reported missing from the St Cyrus area.

Mr Leslie was due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday for sentencing on a summary complaint, alleging breach of the peace.

He was last seen in Dundee six days ago but has not been in touch with his family since.

Police have conducted helicopter searches of the area near his home.

Neighbours may have seen him at his home at Scotston Place on Monday.

A police statement said Mr Leslie, also known by Graham, is known to frequent licensed premises in the Montrose and Dundee areas.

He is described as being around 5ft 1ins tall and of a stocky build. He wears glasses and has a tattoo on his right forearm.

Officers are appealing for anyone who has seen a man matching his description to get in touch as extensive enquiries continue to establish his whereabouts.

Inspector Megan Heathershaw, who is leading the search, said: “I would appeal to anyone who has seen a man matching the description of Graeme provided to please contact us as soon as possible.

“Likewise I would ask Graeme if he sees our appeal to let police know he is safe and well.

“It has been several days since anyone has spoken to him and our concerns for his safety and well-being are growing.

“Searches involving specialist police teams and the RNLI will take place today along the coastline near Graeme’s home.

“He is known to frequent licensed premises in the Dundee and Montrose areas, so I would urge people frequenting or working in these places to keep an eye out for him.

“Please contact Police on 101 with any information as soon as possible.”

Inspector Heathershaw is appealing for people living the St Cyrus area to check sheds, garages or other outbuildings for signs of activity as the search to trace him continues.

She said: “We have specialist search teams currently out looking in the vicinity of Graeme’s home however I would appeal to anyone who lives in the area to please check your garages, sheds or other outbuildings for signs of activity in case he sought shelter.

“Given the recent rainfall and unfavourable weather conditions I must stress that we don’t want anyone searching outwith the boundaries of your own property and putting yourself in any danger, however if your outbuildings are easily accessible we would be very grateful for the assistance.

“The significant rainfall this morning will make some of the terrain we need to search challenging, however our specialist officers are utilising their skills and equipment to access the areas safely and effectively.”
