German sex offender who groomed 15-year-old girl jailed for two years

A German sex offender who tried to flee to his home country with an underage schoolgirl has been jailed for two years.

Uwe Kaiser, 49, was handed a custodial sentence at Perth Sheriff Court after admitting to grooming the 15-year-old, as well as breaching bail.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Perth Sheriff Court heard that police officers found that Kaiser had stored the girl’s number in his phone under the name “baby.”

The court had previously heard how Kaiser, of Frankfurt in Germany, travelled more than 600 miles to visit the girl after contact was made between the pair on an internet chat site.

At the time the girl was aged 15, but within weeks their conversations had turned sexual and they were using an encrypted messaging service to exchange explicit pictures.

The court had heard that the girl initially claimed to be 16, while Kaiser told her he was aged 35. However, even when she confided to him that she was just 15, he continued to have “sexualised chat” with her through the internet site.

The depute fiscal had said Kaiser was known to have made two visits to Scotland to meet the girl. On the second occasion, he persuaded her to board a coach in Perth to head for London and then on to Germany.

However, police intervened before Kaiser’s plan could come to fruition.

At his last court appearance, the accused had asked to be allowed to write to the girl, phone her and to be given permission to receive visits from her while he was in custody, but this was denied by a sheriff.

Kaiser had admitted grooming the girl between January and October 2015, and of breaching a bail order not to approach the girl.
