Carin suffered horrific physical and sexual abuse at the hands of Stephen Graham.

Fife rapist Stephen Graham has been sentenced to six years and one month behind bars.

The 29-year-old appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday morning after being found guilty by a jury last month.

The court was told that Graham still denies raping his victim despite scientific evidence determining sexual intercourse had likely taken place.

Judge Lord Summers ordered the thug to serve 66 months for the assault and rape which took place in Markinch on February 25.

He was also ordered to serve six months behind bars for separate assault charge against the same woman which happened in January of this year.

The 29-year-old victim was within Graham’s home address when he punched her to the face, breaking her nose. He then subjected her to a serious sexual assault.

The judge decided to “wrap up” two further threatening and abusive behaviour charges which involved Graham attempt to attack police officers in September 2017.

The brute, who repeatedly turned in the dock to look at the public gallery, was given one month for each of the complaints, to be served concurrently.

Rape victim details nine-hour ordeal at hands of evil Fife rapist Stephen Graham

As he was led away, one family member shouted: “We love you Stephen”.

The sentence was backdated to December 7 to take into account the period of time the rapist has already spent on remand.

His name was previously added to the sex offenders register.

Graham was previously found guilty of rape, assault and threatening and abusive behaviour at Livingston High Court on September 11.

Detective Inspector Paul Dick, from Police Scotland’s Glenrothes CID, said: “Stephen Graham is a violent and predatory individual who carried out a horrific and terrifying attack on a woman, who was left extremely distressed and traumatised by this ordeal.

“It is only because of her courage in coming forward to report the abuse she suffered that we were able to ensure Graham was brought to justice for his crimes and will now serve a custodial sentence.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the uniform staff who initially attended the incident and the continued hard work of the detectives and officers who progressed the enquiry to its conclusion.

“We treat all reports of sexual assault with the utmost seriousness and will conduct a thorough and professional investigation whenever such offences are brought to our attention. In addition, we work closely with relevant partners to provide victims with all the necessary support and assistance they may require.

“If you wish to report a sexual crime then you can do so by contacting us on 101, making an anonymous call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or by utilising our third-party reporting mechanism, details of which are available on our website at www.scotland.police.uk.”
