Fans heading for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee have been issued a warning about their tickets to get into the event.

About 80,000 people are heading for Camperdown Park between Friday and Sunday.

Ticketmaster has released advice for anyone with a ticket for the event – with revellers urged to act now.

Tickets are only available via phones with a barcode displayed for entry.

Fans told to download Ticketmaster app

An email to fans from Ticketmaster said: “In order to access your tickets, you’ll need to download the latest version of the app.

“You can download or update to the latest version of the iPhone app here or the Android app here.

“Please make sure you check your tickets, within the latest version of the Ticketmaster app, and are logged into the app before you arrive at the venue as mobile data reception can be limited – doing this in advance through the app, will ensure that you’ll be able to access them at the venue without connectivity.”

Revellers are also being warned they cannot use a screenshot of the tickets on their phone to gain access.

Anyone travelling from abroad will not be able to use the app but can show their tickets from their online accounts through a mobile web browser.

Meanwhile, Ticketmaster has faced some criticism from fans online for removing the option for fans to resell tickets via its platform earlier this week.

One fan claimed “scammers are having a ball” as those wanting to buy or sell tickets could no longer do so through official channels.

Ticketmaster had previously had the option for fans to advertise tickets for resale at face value via its app and website.

The Courier has contacted Ticketmaster for comment.

We have put together an all-you-need-to-know guide for Big Weekend including timings, map, age limit, weather and more.
