A documentary film about one of Dundee’s most recognisable buskers is to be entered into a North American indie film festival.
The short film, made by former Dundee resident Greig Stott, features Fast Eddie, a well-known street busker who can be spotted rain or shine playing the harmonica in the city centre.
It will now be entered into Best Short Fest, held in Lanark County, Ontario in September this year.
The festival is open to submissions from any genre of short film from across the world.
The production was self-taught filmmaker and photographer Greig’s first and achieved a degree of local recognition after being released.
It won in the “Local Talent” award category of the IronStar International Short Film Festival held in Dundee.
The festival was hosted by IronStar Films in partnership with Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA).
Greig, who moved to Ontario, Canada, in October last year with his wife and daughter, said he made the film out of pure intrigue.
He said: “I am a story teller by nature and I am always interested in people and their stories.
“I have always had this real interest and been drawn to buskers and street performers and this man (Fast Eddie) caught my eye five years ago.
“I used to always wonder who he was, what he was about and what his story was.
“I finally plucked up the courage to speak to him and he could not have been more welcoming.”
Greig also plans to enter the short film version into festivals worldwide, including others across the Atlantic in Canada and the USA, as well as throughout UK and Europe.
He added that ever since he started making the film, he and ‘Fast Eddie’ had become very close.
He said: “I am very excited about potentially sharing my work and Fast Eddie with audiences in North America and the world.
“Since making the film, he has become a great friend to me and he never fails to make me smile and feel good about life.
“He is a wonderfully unique character and personality.
“Being thousands of miles across the Atlantic here in Canada, he is definitely one of the things I miss most about the city of Dundee and Scotland.
“But I will be back one day and I hope very much to chat with him again soon.”
