People travelled from across Scotland to watch Prince William and Kate Middleton arrive to officially open the V&A in Dundee on Tuesday.
The royals appeared at the waterfront at about 1pm and were met by a crowd of hundreds of people eager to catch a glimpse of them.
After being given a tour around the £80 million design museum, accompanied by its architect Kengo Kuma and V&A director Tristram Hunt, the couple greeted people in the crowd outside.
Many shook hands and spoke with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland – before they set off to the city’s Michelin factory.

Among those who shook hands with Prince William was Dundee University student Amelie Roussier, who is originally from France.
She said: “It was so exciting. It is the first time that I have seen the royal family. He (Prince William) didn’t talk to me but he shook my hand. He said ‘hello’ to everyone. They were friendly, very kind.”
Friend and fellow student Rebecca Levie added: “They were so charming and so wonderful at speaking to people.”

Royal family fan Steve McGurk from Dundee attended with his young niece Savanah.
He added: “We thought we’d come down here today to see our future king and queen and so this little princess here could hopefully meet, or at least see, another princess.”
