A Fife nightclub where love blossomed for generations of couples is to call time for good.
Jordans Nightclub and the adjoining Watts of Cupar restaurant will close at the end of this year.
The site at the corner of Station Road and Coal Road in Cupar has been sold to developers.
Closure of Jordans will leave Cupar without a nightclub and the news of its demise met with sadness from those who have fond memories of its dance floor.
News of the closure was shared by Jordans on its Facebook page, prompting people to reminisce about their days frequenting the club, which opened in 1991.
The restaurant is in a category B listed building over 200 years old which was once the county jail then the premises of seed merchant William Watt.
A spokesman for the business said they expected a lot of customers past and present who have special memories of the place to visit before their final farewell in Jordans on Hogmanay.
He said: “A lot of people met in Jordans and went on to get married.
“One of my barman got married here last week and he and his wife met in Jordans. His wife’s mum and dad met in Jordans all those years ago.”
A special party is planned for the final night on December 31 and other events are to be held in the run-up to Christmas.
The spokesman said: “The Hogmanay bash will be our final party and we are going to go out with a bang.”
He said the buildings’ owner informed them just before the summer that the site had been sold.
He said: “They just said developers have bought it, we’ve not been told anything else.”
They are to open a new café and restaurant, called Number 10, nearby in the Crossgate which will host live music nights.
Staff employed at Jordans and Watts will move there and more are to be taken on.
