Coronavirus: Help in the pipeline for pubs and restaurant thanks to Fife businessman

A Fife businessman is coming to the aid of pubs, bars, restaurants and other licenced premises across the region to them through the coronavirus crisis.

Following the UK Government’s announcement on Friday that all premises were ordered to close to the public for the foreseeable future in a bid to reduce the spread of the covid-19 virus, Fifer Derek Lobban has stepped up to offer his services to the trade to protect them during the shutdown.

Moved by the plight of the landlords and business owners having to stop trading and with a wealth of trade experience behind him, Derek is now offering to clean and protect beer pipes and pumps in establishments across the Kingdom, and will undertake the work for free.

With a forced shutdown of licenced premises anticipated to last for weeks or even months, beer keg and cask lines could face irreparable damage is pipes are not flushed, cleaned and protected, as Derek explained.

“It’s a difficult and stressful time for everyone and for owners and landlords that is no exception.

“So, while we are in this situation I just thought I’d try and put something back to help those in the trade left in limbo, especially as I have the time to get round and do it

“With beer pipes expected to last indefinitely it’s vital those beer pipes are protected from the yeast build up if beer is left in the lines.

“With my Clear Brew system I can not only clean out the pipes but can add a special fluid that will protect those for up to six months, which hopefully, should see us through this national crisis.”

Based in Tayport Derek said he is now prepared to visit any venue across Fife, Angus and Dundee that requires assistance without charge with the customer only required to pay the cost price of the chemicals.

“It’s such an unprecedented time for all of us that’s why we all have to do what we can to help each other out.

“If there’s a chance of me to be of assistance during all of this then I’m more than willing to do what I can.”
