The heartbroken parents of a Fife teenager killed in a road tragedy say they have lost “the perfect person”.

Joshua Kerr died following an incident at Little Balquhomrie Farm close to Glenrothes at around 11.10am on Friday.

The 18-year-old suffered serious injuries and, despite the effort of paramedics to save him, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the death and is due to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday.

Parents Angela Kerr and Jamie Simpson said: “His mum, dad, little brother and anyone that ever knew Josh will never forget him.

“He was the perfect person and we will forever love him.”

Scores of tributes for Joshua, a talented pool player, have been posted on a Facebook page set up in the memory of the popular young man.

Friend Gavin Taylor said: “2020 continues to get worse by the minute. Devastated to hear the news about wee Josh Kerr, one of the nicest young guys I have ever spoke to.”

Fellow pool player Jock Andrews added: “Devastating news fly high wee man. A true gentleman.

“I played you a few times and always a good game and good player to watch. Taken far too soon.”

Joshua’s grandmother Debbie Kerr thanked those friends who had paid tribute and said they were planning a memorial celebration for the teenager.

She added: “He was a kind, loving grandson and person.”

A spokesman for Raith Rovers Football Club, where Joshua was a season ticket holder, said everyone was devastated to hear about the tragedy.

In a statement the club said: “The thoughts of everyone at RRFC are with the family at this sad time.

“Always willing to help others, Josh, alongside his mum Angela, also helped out in hospitality at Raith Rovers during the season just ended.”

A charity page set up by Joshua’s friends at the CISWO Snooker League in the wake of his death had raised over £2,000 just hours after it was set up.

Detective Inspector John Easton of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team said: “This was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community. We are keen to talk to anyone who may be able to help with our investigation.”

Anyone with information that could help is urged to call Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
