Children at a Glenrothes primary school have been told to self-isolate after a case of Covid-19 was identified.

NHS Fife said a person linked to Warout Primary has tested positive for the virus and all P1 pupils should stay at home until September 29.

All other pupils should continue to attend if they feel well.

There is no evidence so far of any onward transmission within the school and the risk to children and staff is said to be low.

The case brings the number of affected schools in the region to eight since the start of term.

It follows an announcement of cases at Torbain Primary nursery on Thursday and Lochgelly West Primary School on Wednesday.

A statement issued by NHS Fife on Friday afternoon said: “NHS Fife can confirm that an individual linked to Warout Primary in Glenrothes has tested positive for Covid-19.

“As a precaution all pupils from class P1 are being asked to self-isolate until Monday September 28 and return to school on Tuesday September 29.

“Anyone who develops any of the established symptoms of the virus, such as a fever; or a loss or change in taste or smell; or a new and continuous cough, should arrange testing.”
