Dunfermline Foodbank has been given a helping hand by Fife Council’s community payback scheme.
Clients doing unpaid work as part of a community payback order have been collecting food donations made by the public at Tesco stores in the Dunfermline and Rosyth area.
They then deliver them to the Dunfermline Foodbank for distribution to individuals and families to make sure they don’t go hungry.
Ian Hepburn, from Dunfermline Foodbank, said the assistance of the community payback scheme over the last few years had been “invaluable”.
He added: “They have completely taken care of the logistics of moving several tonnes of food from across Dunfermline to our central store.
“We are very grateful for their assistance and look forward to working with them.”
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council spokesperson for communities, concluded: “The unpaid work scheme has made a big difference to a number of areas across Fife.
“Organisations from schools, community centres, charities and local shops benefit. This work makes a real difference to everyone involved.”
