The funeral of a former Fife solider, who was found dead in Thailand, will be held later this week. Steve Balfour, from Rosyth, disappeared during a visit to the resort of Pattaya on May 14. He was found in a police morgue more than a month later, sparking a major investigation. It later emerged Steve had died in a room above a bar in the town’s red light area. The 35-year-old was in south-east Asia to visit his estranged Thai wife and their six-year-old daughter. Family and friends will gather to say goodbye to Steve at his funeral service in Dunfermline Crematorium on Friday morning.
