The alarm was raised at around 3.10pm and four appliances were dispatched to the disused site near Fife Council’s recycling centre. Police also attended. No one was hurt or had to be rescued in the incident in the town’s Smeaton Industrial Estate, Denburn Road. Two cylinders containing oxygen and acetylene were in the building but were unaffected, although some tyres ignited. The fire was extinguished by 4.30pm. The council confirmed its recycling centre was unaffected.
