Special tribute was paid to recently retired Scottish Parliament Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick as she received a lifetime achievement award in front of a home crowd in Glenrothes.
The presentation was made at the finale of the ninth annual Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards, co-sponsored by The Courier, which honoured the inspirational and self-less work of unsung individuals, businesses, schools and voluntary organisations across Fife.
Mrs Marwick, who recently stood down as SNP MSP for Glenrothes and Mid Fife, was praised for the “tireless” effort she put in to serve the Kingdom – even after she was diagnosed with cancer.
Other awards included child of achievement winner Cara Smyth; Kingdom Kid award leukaemia battler Toby Etheridge and carer of the year winner Kahra Stewart, 13, of Cupar.
Around 300 guests attended Friday’s glitzy ceremony at the Rothes Halls.
