Police are trying to track down fire raisers who targeted a house in Rosyth.
A 30-year-old woman was left fearing for her safety after thugs lit a fire at the front door of her home in Parkside Street shortly before midnight on Monday October 3.
The fire service was called to the scene and managed to put the fire out quickly, and nobody was injured.
However, the woman was left shaken after her ordeal.
Police Scotland said someone could have been seriously hurt if the fire had spread.
Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh of Dunfermline CID said: “Fortunately no one was injured as a result of this fire, however it could have had much more serious consequences.
“We are eager to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the Parkside Street area on Monday, October 3.
“Anyone with information that may assist us in our enquiries is asked to come forward immediately.”
A joint investigation carried out by police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service concluded that the fire had been started deliberately.
Although it is believed to have been an isolated incident, police are unsure of the motive behind it.
